Practical AI Strategies 2 is Out Now!

Plus, computer using AI is solved

Hi everyone,

Practical AI Strategies 2 is Out Now from Amba Press! 🎉

I started writing this book at the end of 2025. Originally I had planned a second edition of 2024's book, but as soon as I sat down to write I knew that enough had changed to fill a whole second volume.

Practical AI Strategies 2 is more critical than book 1, expanding on the ethical concerns of the industry and prompting ideas about how we can teach those issues. But it's also more practical too: it moves beyond prompts, beyond chatbots, and into the territory of agents and computer-using AI.

Each chapter ends with practical strategies and prompts to use immediately by yourself or in a faculty.

Early reviews of Practical AI Strategies 2 have been overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the clear, down to earth writing and the explanations of complex topics. It's a book for all educators no matter what sector you work in or where you are in the world.

Practical AI Strategies 2 is available now from Amba Press and via all major online booksellers, in paperback and ebook.

Computer Using AI is Solved

In 2024, I wrote an article saying that "computer using AI" would be the next ChatGPT moment. I'd experimented with a research product from Anthropic that allowed Claude to take over a virtual computer, moving a virtual mouse and using a virtual keyboard to operate standard software.

At the time, it was a clanky and awkward thing, and locked into a highly secure environment. Flash forward two years, and we are now seeing the first viable, commercially available computer using agents (CUAs).

CUAs powered by new models like OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra and Claude Fable 5.1 have reached the point where they can do real work. In this week's article, I send them off to do a few real-world tasks including, a little terrifyingly, handing Claude my credit card and sending it shopping.

I'll be quiet on social media for a few weeks now as I take my usual spring break, but I'll stay active on the blog and this mailing list. Please share the articles from the blog with your colleagues if you find them interesting, and of course I'd love you to grab a copy of the new book!

Cheers,

Leon
