Case Study: Saskatoon Public Schools and AI Assessment

Hi everyone,

One of my favourite parts of my job is getting to know educators from around the world, and in all areas of education. This week I've run sessions for schools in South Australia, New Zealand, Sydney, and face-to-face in Singapore.

I've spoken with Teachers Registration Board staff in Tasmania, and their equivalent colleagues at NESA in New South Wales. And I've worked with K-12 and University educators in Australia, Canada, the US, and the UAE as part of my curriculum leaders course (more on that below).

The best part is learning how each sector and country has approached GenAI: both the successes and the challenges. It really gives the sense of a shared struggle, and what works in education in one part of the world often sparks great ideas in another.

On the blog this week I've written about one specific example from the Canadian K-12 sector.

How Saskatoon Public Schools adapted the AIAS

Saskatoon Public Schools got in touch with me last year to ask about adapting the AI Assessment Scale for their cohort. In the months that followed, their team did some excellent work adapting and refining the scale.

In this post, I have a Q&A with Candace Elliott-Jensen, Coordinator of Secondary Learning Supports at Saskatoon Public Schools. Candace explains how the team worked with staff and students to refine the AIAS for the Saskatoon system.

Practical AI for Curriculum Leaders: Term 3

I know Term 3 is a long way off (that's mid-July for the none-Australians in the audience), but I've opened the waitlist for the term 3 cohort of my Practical AI for Curriculum Leaders course.

The term 2 cohort has just gotten underway, and since the courses are capped at 15-25 participants, they fill up quickly. You can read more about the 6 week live and asynch intensive over on the website, and if you're interested join the waitlist for the Early Bird price in a few weeks' time.

I'll be back on home soil next week after this short trip to Singapore, and will be continuing the Resistance framework with an article on feedback, and evidence-informed advice on how students can use GenAI.
